The Holy Spirit's Presence Old Testament; 2Chronicles 15:2 This was addressed to Asa and all Judah and Benjamin. The Holy Spirit of God came upon God’s people in Old Testament days when they relied upon him and forsook them when they didn’t. God's Presence Today Today, we who are true believers in Jesus Christ always have the Holy Spirit with us (Romans 8:9-11), and he will help us when we rely upon him. However, when we sin and do not rely upon him, we lose fellowship with him and may experience defeat. We are, however, promised he will never leave us or forsake us (1John 1:8-9; Matthew 28:20; Hebrews 13:5).
